The photographs in this series begin as self-portraits. They
are then digitally manipulated and altered.
I am interested in the notion of a digital truth and the
distance that continues to grow between the photographic image and its conception
in reality. Within the concept of digital truth, this series explores the
body's evolution in digital representation. I use myself as the crude material
for each image and from that create new characters solely from and in the
digital realm. This process reveals the ideal human form to be reconstructable
and malleable, especially today where the body is not seen as a sacred object
but simply an object ready to be manipulated.
